What’s on my mind.

Posted by Monterra in todo

So, I’ve mostly been planning and sketching my future project during my lectures at school (heh) and this this is my to-do list so far:

-Another school bag in black, based on another bag I already have…

-An underbust “undergarment” corset (already started!)

-An underbust black-and-green-corset with a busk

-An overbust “Moulin Rouge” corset with the nice shiny pinkish-red fabric I bought, and lots of black lace ;)

-A long black wool skirt for the winter (hrr!)

-Kitchen curtains -_-

Sketch

If most of the pages in my notepad have some weird sketchings like this, maybe I’m studying the wrong thing…

New bag

Posted by Monterra in bags, finished, sewings

Time for some creativity finally.. After a long while of doodling sketches and whatnot in my notes during boring classes I finally got the inspiration to this bag (and the bargain bin fabric helped, too). I had problems with finding a good nice school bag and you can never have too many bags, can you?

The pattern is from the Suuri Käsityö-magazine which I had stashed away for some time.

Purple bag

It is black and purple wool fabric with inner pocket and elastic “drawstring” so it is easy to slip folders in and out of it (and lots of other crap). First I had a non-elastic string on it, it didn’t look as good as the elastic one and it was harder to put large items into the bag. But the bag is my favourite, at least for a while. :)

Corset fun

Posted by Monterra in finished, reflection, sewings, corsets

First corset-post; yeah, I really like doing corsets. It’s fun how you learn something new everytime you make a new one. This is basically the same as the underbust one I first made; it was done with this tutorial, which is really nice and helpful if you read the instructions carefully, but unfortunately I was too greedy and it was a tad too small. And the wrong side was quite ugly, too, didn’t figure out a neat way to sew it until later. ;)

Well, I took it apart some time ago and re-did it, and this new one turned out just maybe a tad too big! Or actually, it doesn’t curve enough, this is because I just altered the old pattern by adding some 5mm’s to the side of each piece… Didn’t think that of course it doesn’t curve as much then anymore one me. Grrrrrr. A new thing learned! But I’ve had enough of that corset to worry about, won’t bother to redo it for the 3rd time!

Drool!

Posted by Monterra in shoes

Okay, the shoe craving is on again.. And why did I even have to feed it by going to some really nice shoe site(s).

I want either these or these.
Most likely the latter ones, since they’re all nice and practical… Already got one pair of boots I can’t really walk in unless I pad my socks. :D And the lacing, it takes forever. Why must all lovely shoes be so uncomfortable?! (Last saturday in little heels.. oww)

I actually even tried on the latter shoes at Lumous Dark Market, they were really nice and even quite comfy despite the large platform, but unfortunately not my size. Now I really really need them. Quite expensive, but you know.. You will always somehow find the money to eat, but buying shoes is a once in a life time opportunity (blah blah…)

Poofy satin shirt

Posted by Monterra in tops, finished, sewings

So, first real post it is. I finished this shirt about a week ago, and it turned out more… eh, poofy than I expected. But after the initial shock it didn’t seem so bad after all. I’ll most likely wear it this weekend to Club Schatten. Used a pattern from Suuri Käsityö magazine a few years ago, it was meant for some stretch material but just added a zipper since satin is not the stretchy kind. It is meant to be worn with a corset but doesn’t look that bad on itself either. :)

It was quite easy, took me a long time though since I was too lazy and worked on it over a a 3-week period of time at least.

Oh

Posted by Monterra in random

And just for the record, I’ve spent a good deal of this afternoon setting up Wordpress, updating it, looking for themes and customizing the whole thing and more. :D Phew! What a project. At least all should be nice and working now… Except for widgets (running WP 2.2.3 so it should support them automatically… but this theme doesn’t. )  But oh well, that’s for another day.

Hello there

Posted by Monterra in random

People make blogs for themselves, their dogs, cats, snot and whatnot. So why not make one about shoes, sewing pretty clothes, obsessing about new acquisitions and reflecting back to the ones already bought. Sentimentalism, you see. And also showing off. ;)

Sewing is practically my only hobby and I enjoy talking about it and surfing the net learning new things related to it. And I like shoes, too. And corsets. And so on.

If you find this blog stupid and hate it, don’t bother telling me because I simply don’t care.
